PRELIMINARY ITINERARY:

We will arrive in Thessalonica, the second largest city of Greece. Meet your local Bible-oriented guide and transfer to the city center, where you will enjoy a panoramic tour (depending on arrival time). Pass by the White Tower, Galerius Arch, the Rotunda, St. Demetrius and St. Sophia’s byzantine churches. This important port city on the Via Egnatia was the capital of the province of Macedonia when Paul, Silas, and Timothy visited in 49-50 AD. The city, founded in 315 BC, became very cosmopolitan with a large Jewish population. Paul preached to the God-fearing Greeks and Jews in the synagogue. Continue to the hotel for check-in & dinner.

We will visit Philippi, the site where Paul established a strong church and sent his congregation letters (Acts 16:9-33). We see the river where Lydia was baptized, the ruins of a prison where Apostle Paul and Sylas had been kept, the Agora, 5th and 6th century Basilica and the Theater.

We will enjoy a panoramic city tour of Thessalonica. Continue on to Berea (Acts 17:10-15) where the apostle Paul arrived and according to his custom, went to the synagogue and discovered ‘to his pleasant surprise’ that the Jews he had encountered were "searching the scriptures". We see the Byzantine mosaic and the monument commemorating his preaching (Acts 17:10-11). Continue our journey to Kalambaka.

Afternoon visit to the spectacular Meteora monasteries, a UNESCO world Heritage site, built on the top of huge gray boulders. These are veritable Byzantine monasteries, exhibiting superb icons and manuscripts from the 14th century.

We will drive to Athens (approx. 5-6 hr drive) with a stop at the archaeological site of Delphi for a tour. This was considered the ‘naval’ or ‘center’ of the earth in the ancient times and home to the famous oracle, where people came from all over the world for advice. Following the tour, continue to Athens where we will enjoy a panoramic city tour before your check in at the hotel for dinner.

We will tour the crown jewel of Athens, the Parthenon temple. Walk up the world famous Acropolis hill to the Parthenon and Erechtheion temples before going to the nearby Mars Hill (Areopagus) (Acts 17:22) where the Apostle Paul delivered his well-known sermon to giants of philosophy. Walk around the Agora where Paul preached to the Athenian philosophers, before enjoying some free time in the neighborhood of Plaka – the most picturesque in Athens.

We stop at the historic Corinth Canal for some photos. We continue to Ancient Corinth (Acts 18:1-18) where the Apostle Paul lived and worked, established a thriving church, subsequently sending two of his epistles, now part of the New Testament. Here, we see all of the sites associated with his ministry: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema and Gallio’s Seat. The small local archaeological museum here is an absolute must!
